Wildfire at Rannoch Station

This is the fire seen from the other end of the loch. It is in deep heather and getting in among native woodland. There were two fire appliancies here, one from Kinloch Rannoch, the other from Aberfeldy. Very often there is little that fire engines can do in such circumstances, bar taking command of the situation, looking after H & S considerations and protecting any buildings that might be in danger......usually just allowing the fire to burn itself out. It does however underline the importance of manintaining our emergency services in remote areas such as this.
