Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg really laid down a marker in the first leaders' debate on ITV last night. He was calm and relaxed, got his points across and had the other two candidates trying to win his favour throughout the 90 minutes. The phrase "I agree with Nick..." was heard over and over again.
It is widely reported this morning that he "won" the debate. A YouGov poll had 51% of people saying he was the most impressive. Quite astonishing in what was supposed to be a "two horse race" between the other two parties.
There are still two debates to come, on Sky TV and then finally on the BBC, with the small matter of the election itself on 6th May........but, in the meantime, Very Well Done to Nick Clegg.
